Vaginal odor home remedies

Vaginal odor might change and be caused by a number of reasons. The most common reason is a condition that known as bacterial vaginosis which occurs when the normal bacteria found in the female genital area is overcome by another kind of bacteria. The odor associated with bacterial vaginosis is usually described as a fishy.

In addition to the vaginal odor, you might also experience itching around the vaginal area. The vaginal odor might also be a symptom of a sexually transmitted disease known as trichomonas or could be caused by a yeast infection. Finally, the cause of the odor can also depend upon when it occurs.

Vaginal odor occurs in some women after their partner’s ejaculate because when semen is present in the vagina, it causes the release of a group of amines causing the odor.

You must identify the cause of the odor first. Avoid wearing synthetic fabrics and tight underwear. It is recommended that you wear loose cotton underwear and ensure that your vaginal area is clean and dry. Use lukewarm water and a pH balanced soap to wash the area. If the odor is not caused by an infection, treat the problem with a vinegar and water douche. Add a few of drops of tree oil to a dish of water and applying the solution to your vagina. Tea tree oil can cause burning on the skin for some people and it is essential that you test your reaction to it.
