Weight loss advice

What are the lifestyle changes required to loose weight?
(28 Jan 2008)

In order to lose weight, you should follow a disciplined lifestyle. This is the most important thing and it will also ensure that you can not only lose excess weight but also keep it off. Going on a crash diet for a few days is not going to be very useful in keeping excessive weight off in the long run.

Instead, making smaller and more effective changes in your day to day habits will yield better results. To begin with, you should make two rules an absolute necessity. One is that you should drink warm water when you wake up. And the second one is that you should not eat anything after 9 pm. This alone will be of monumental help to achieve your goals. You should also fix your meal time routines very rigidly. Eat no more than five small meals a day and try to have any meal that is significantly larger than the other. This will be extremely difficult to begin with, as the body is used to eating larger quantities at lunch and dinner times. But you will slowly get used to it. The trick to success will lie in sticking to this fundamental rule.

You also need to seriously cut back on your intake of carbohydrates. The basic amount of carbohydrates needed for a human body to survive well and healthily on a daily basis is about 120 grams. You can successfully control your carbohydrate intake by monitoring closely the information provided on all food packaging. You should also try and reduce eating fats – always try to keep your intake of fat to about 20 a day. This is definitely challenging, but if you want to be successful in your weight loss attempts, you need to follow this stringently. Instead, you should increase your intake of protein which will build muscle mass and green leafy vegetables which will help to improve your internal health to a very great degree. Exercise is also an essential part of any logical weight loss program. You should dedicate at least about 40 minutes to exercise, at least about four times a week. To start with, you should stay with 20 minutes and gradually increase it as time goes on. Try to follow this type of a disciplined approach for at least a couple of months and you will see a dramatic change in your weight. If you wish for it to remain permanent, adopt this lifestyle!

Making Lifestyle Changes for Weight Loss

It is certainly not easy to stick to a diet. This is especially true when you are struggling to lose more than a few pounds. Food is tempting and it is even harder to motivate yourself to exercise and stick to the diet even after you have lost the weight. The key to a successful diet comes with making lifestyle changes. You cannot expect to lose and keep the weight off if you do not make changes to your eating habits and your attitude towards food.

In order to lose weight and to keep it off, you must be willing to change your outlook on the foods you eat and exercise. If you simply diet until you lose the ten pounds and then go back to your old eating habits, you will find the weight creeping back on. Lifestyle changes are a must for a good outcome on any diet.

The type of changes you need to make in order to lose weight will largely depend on you. How do you feel about food? If you eat to comfort yourself or when you feel stressed, then you will need to find a better outlet. Many people eat and snack when they are bored or tired. You need to think about this when you diet. In addition, you need to make changes to the types of foods you eat and the portions that you eat. You cannot eat anything you want and as much as you want and expect to keep the weight off. It just doesn’t work like that. Exercise is another matter. You may dislike exercise, but that is another change in your outlook that you need to make,

Making these and other changes are necessary for lifelong weight loss. When you are ready to make these changes, you will find success with your dieting.
