Most people that suffer from allergies and asthma are interested in finding the safest and most effective treatment possible. There is nothing scarier than watching your loved one or child having an asthma attack and not having the right treatment on hand. While there are proven prescriptions that will reduce the severity of an asthma attack, some people are interested in alternative treatment.

You have to ask yourself, is alternative medicine and treatment safe for asthma?

As you look for alternative medications and treatment, the first thing you should do is to talk to your health care provider. You may be interested in alternative treatments for a wide variety of reasons, but if your doctor does not feel it is not safe, then you should get a proven prescription.

This is especially true when it comes to those that suffer from serious asthma attacks and for children. You never want to mess around with asthma attacks and your doctor can let you know about alternative treatments.

Something else that you may want to consider when treating asthma with alternative medications is to make sure what you are taking is safe. You might be surprised to know that the FDA does not approve many of the herbs, supplements and treatments. That means that there is no research to prove or suggest that the particular treatment in question is safe or actually works.

What you can do is help your asthma symptoms naturally is to combine prescription medications along with alternative treatments. Some people believe that acupuncture and certain diets will help reduce the occurrence of asthma attacks. Exercise and even biofeedback are often used to help with allergies and asthma as well. If you are interested in trying these methods, then you need to do your research to find out what will work best for you.
