Health advice for cold

A common cold occurs more than any illness and can cause discomfort because the throat feels sore and you are unable to speak or eat properly. A cold also causes the congestion of the nasal passages and results in a feeling of being heavy-headed. There are many effective home remedies that you can use to clear a stuffy nose and sinus pressure.

Instead of buying a saline nasal spray in a store, you can make it at home. Add one teaspoon of salt to one cup of distilled water. Transfer to a nasal spray instrument or a bulb syringe.

Administer 5-7 drops in each nostril. If you are using tap water, then you should add the salt and boil for approximately 8-10 minutes. Use this solution only after it is completely cool.

One of the best remedies to cure a stuffy nose is to unclog it and make it runny. Eat foods that hot and spicy foods that will trigger a reflex reaction that opens up the nasal passages. You could also eat some hot chilli peppers or take a spoon of horseradish sauce. This will very effectively open your nasal passages and enable you to breathe easily. Drinking any hot liquid will also help you open your passages and hence you should ensure that you drink a lot of liquids like hot soup, hot tea with lemon, and plain hot water. The steam of the liquid will unblock the congestion and the fluid dilutes the mucus in your nose and allows you to breathe more normally.
