Gray hair remedies Premature greying is any greying of hair before the age of 35 years. It is caused by an excessive intake of tea, coffee, , greasy, meat, fried, oily, spicy, sour, alcohol and acidic foods that reduce the moisture and nutrients reaching hair follicles.
Melanin (the body’s natural hair dye) production may fall due to a lack of copper. Copper-rich foods like oysters, crab, sunflower seeds, almonds and cashews can take care of this problem. Iron and iodine should be consumed in the form of sea food. Fish is the main source of iodine, apart from carrots and bananas. Carrots are especially useful in maintaining the health of the hair.
Consuming a litre of yogurt daily with a tablespoon of yeast before each meal is an excellent remedy for prevention of premature greying. Some natural ways to cover the greying temporarily are: dye with tea or sage. It will temporarily coat the hair shaft. Apply olive oil, it will soften the hair, thus not making it stand out as grey hair normally does. Indian gooseberry or Indian gooseberry is a popular home remedy. If fresh gooseberries are available, a paste can be made and applied to hair. Dried and powdered gooseberries can be ground into a powder, mixed with water and massaged in. Dried gooseberries can also be eaten directly.
