Is there a way to lessen the effects of severe Acid Reflex? Been taking tums and drinking milk previously, that seemed to help. But recently got sick, along with pain in the stomach as well as the throat.

Acid reflux, also often known as heartburn, is a condition in which the liquid contents of the stomach may back up and flow into the esophagus. This can be a highly uncomfortable feeling, making you may feel as if you have just swallowed acid. The condition could lead to a burning sensation in the middle of the stomach as well as in the chest and the throat area.
This sensation usually occurs due to the movement of the gastric juices into the esophagus. In extreme conditions, the esophagus lining may even get burnt by the acids in the stomach.
Acid reflux is a condition in which people may suffer the symptoms twice or thrice a week, or maybe sometimes even more. Typically, the causes of acid reflux are related to a poor or irregular diet. However, there are other digestive distresses that may have acid reflux as a separate condition. Over a period of time, whatever the causes of acid reflux may be, if the condition continues to remain, the lining of the esophagus may get damaged completely. The esophagus may also sustain a scar tissue that makes swallowing very difficult.
Acid reflux disorder is also related to esophageal cancer. Acid reflux treatments or home remedies should be used to mitigate the symptoms and to make sure that the esophagus does not sustain long-term damages. Usually, the treatment of acid reflux depends on the causes of acid reflux. Both apple cider vinegar and the juice of ginger roots are great for treating the causes of acid reflux. Since vinegar is acidic in nature, it aids in the digestion of food, preventing the stomach from producing excessive gastric juices. Ginger roots juice as well as capsules also aid in digestion, therefore making a person feel better. One of the main causes of acid reflux is stress. If you are experiencing excessive stress, you may not be able to sleep properly, and it will have implications for your digestive system as well. Yoga and meditation can both help you relax. This also helps you improve your overall health. Another great remedy for acid reflux is the use of fennel seeds. Take half a spoon of fennel seeds and chew them slowly after you have finished your meal. Drinking anise and lavender tea every morning is also a great cure for acid reflux. Anise is a spice that can help improve digestion. Lavender helps in the metabolism process and prevents water retention so that the biochemical processes in the body continue optimally.

Acid reflux natural treatment If your acidity is excessively severe, the first thing to do is to stop consuming spicy, fried, high salt, oily food and any caffeine related products. Try to eliminate meat as much as you can from the diet. Switch to fresh vegetables and yogurt. All milk products help in dealing with this problem. Keep sipping from a glass of 100 ml of milk topped with ice cubes all day. You can also eat ginger candy, or suck on a piece of fresh ginger if you can handle the spice; this will help relieve the reflux. If you are a smoker, try to cut back – its best if you can quit altogether.
Drink at least 10-15 glasses of water a day. Switch to herbal tea from coffee or other caffeine related products. Apples are found to be very effective in controlling acidity. You must also eat at least two apples daily and munch them thoroughly before you swallow. The other fruit that helps soothe an irritated stomach and throat is figs, fresh or dried. The fruit to avoid is orange – it is very high in acidic content. Diluting a teaspoon of natural apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and sipping it slowly also reduces acidity.
