Advice on drinking lime juice

I got into the habit of drinking lime juice with water. Now I drink about a half gallon a week (one of the Costco bottles) with water. Is this too much?

Advice on drinking lime juice

Half a gallon of lime juice does some to be an unusually large amount of lime juice for one person to consume in a week. However, it is extremely unlikely that lime juice will do you any harm at all. Limes contain high levels of citric acid, so there is a slight chance of acidity, but since you dilute the lime juice with water, this is improbable.

If you haven't noticed any side effects so far, you can continue to enjoy your weekly half gallon of lime juice.

In fact, several home remedies and natural cures have lime juice as an important ingredient, and lime juice offers a large number of health benefits even for normal, healthy people. You get a healthy and regular dose of Vitamin C, fiber, Vitamin A, dietary fiber, sodium, iron, and calcium from lime juice.

None of these are present in quantities sufficient to cause any imbalance or excess, except Vitamin C, which is harmless even in large quantities.

However, you should make sure that the lime juice you are drinking does not contain added sugar or preservatives. Chemicals that are used as preservatives or other common additives in bottled fruit juices can be harmful in large quantities, while excessive consumption of sugar is the cause of a number of health problems.
