Diaper rash natural treatment

Diaper rash or irritated skin is usually red, with cracks on it. You may also notice that the skin is puffy. Your baby will be uncomfortable and irritated by the chafed skin. The first thing that you need to do is to make your child comfortable. Wash your baby in warm water. Pat the affected area dry with a soft cloth. Drying the baby’s bottom with the warm air from a hair dryer is a good idea too. Once the baby’s skin is completely dry, there will be fewer chances of the rash reoccurring.  Vigorous rubbing will only further irritate the skin.  If you like you can let your baby’s skin breathe by letting her be diaper free for some time. An application of aloe vera gel on the puffed up skin usually helps.

In order to ensure that your baby does to suffer diaper rashes in the future, you can take some basic precautions. Clean your baby as soon as she dirties her diaper. Keeping her in a dirty diaper irritates her tender skin. Buy only the softest wipes since rough material can cause irritation.  If you use cloth diapers, then go easy on the detergent when washing the baby’s clothes. Instead of detergents or bleach wash the baby’s clothes in hot water with a really mild soap.
