Hiccups remedies Hiccups are normal everyday problems that occur to most of us. You get the hiccups when your diaphragm is affected by some kind of an irritation. This irritation makes you suck in your breath and then, the hiccups begin!
Hiccups can often be very irritating since they continue despite any remedies that you try out. Fortunately for us, hiccups usually last for a very short period of time. If you have hiccups that go on for hours or hiccups that occur with regularity, then it is advisable to consult a doctor since these may be the symptoms of something more serious.
You get the hiccups when you are nervous, or when you have eaten your food too fast.
The age old remedy for hiccups is drinking water. You can try this method since it has no harmful side effects. Don’t gulp the water down in one large swallow. Instead take tiny sips, with pauses in between each sip. If this does not work, then you can try other remedies. Try sucking on a piece of ice. This might stop the hiccups. However, if this does not work, then cut a slice of lemon. Now sprinkle some salt on the sliced lemon. Suck this slowly. If your hiccups continue, take a spoonful of sugar and then eat this slowly.
