Being overweight or obese as it is sometimes referred to may cause serious health problems. However, you have not mentioned your weight or height which could be used to calculate whether your body does require to lose weight or not. You should first calculate your body mass index (BMI) in order to determine whether you are just overweight or obese.
One common formula for calculating BMI is your weight (in pounds) multiplied by 703, the whole divided by the square of your height (in inches). If your BMI is between 25 and 30 it means you are overweight and if it exceeds 30, you are obese. If on the other hand your BMI is normal, all you need to do is to exercise regularly to achieve and maintain a trim figure.
Assuming your BMI indicates being overweight or obese you need not worry too much as obesity is a common problem that affects people these days and is usually the result of an unhealthy life style. A result of an excessive accumulation of fat in the body, the causes could also be hereditary, the result of a sedentary lifestyle, eating disorders, stress, lack of sleep or even the result of certain kinds of medication. Obesity is generally accompanied by symptoms such as excessive sweating accompanied by a bad odor, being excessively hungry or thirsty, feeling weak and fatigued without having worked strenuously and even breathlessness.
There are several ways to reduce your weight although a doctor would be able to put you on a diet that best suits your body and life style. On the home front it would be advisable to make sure your diet includes fruits, vegetables, diary products that are low on fat and lean meat or fish. Regular exercise should help in weight loss. You could also fast by drinking a mixture of a teaspoon of honey and the juice of one lime mixed in warm water at regular intervals during the day. If you are able to obtain the leaves of Indian plum or jujube as it is popularly called, you can soak it overnight and drink the water every morning on an empty stomach. Salads made of cabbages and tomatoes to replace your breakfast also go a long way to tackle obesity. Be sure to avoid salt and food such as rice and potatoes which are rich in carbohydrates. Calorie high food such as chocolates, ice cream and butter must also be avoided as much as possible.
If, however, you are unable to follow a regime on your own it would be advisable to see a doctor, especially if the excess weight is the result of any underlying disease or the side effect of any medication that you are on.

Many people all over the world want to shed those extra pounds. Ideally, they would like to find solutions at home that will prevent them from spending money on doctors and all other types of weight loss medications. The fact is that using simple measures to lose weight is a healthy and effective choice. Simple measures like a healthy diet and exercise do not usually require you to consult a professional, and are extremely effective at the same time.
First, let us look at your diet – the simplest way to keep your weight in check is to stay away from fatty foods. A proper diet not only helps you get rid of unnecessary fat, but it also helps you to stay fit and feel great. You should eat a well balanced diet with a lot of fruits and vegetables in it. Eat a lot of cereals and egg whites; however avoid eating the yolks as they contain a lot of cholesterol. Also stay away from foods like rice, potatoes, butter, and cheese that are also very high in cholesterol and do not provide much nutrition. You may however consume these foods occasionally as they do have their own benefits as well. You should also try and keep your salt intake to a minimum. Do not use too much oil in your food either. In fact, you should try and eat a lot of salads and steamed foods. A great way to stay fit and reduce your weight is to eat smaller meals about four or five times a day. It is far better than waiting till you are really hungry and then having a much larger meal. In fact, when you eat you should make sure you don’t eat too much. Eat only till your hunger is satiated, and not till you are absolutely full.
The most important thing is to exercise at least once a day. A brisk walk in the morning or evening is the perfect way to keep those pounds off. Even if you do not have enough time you should try to do a little exercise at home on a daily basis, just to help you burn that extra fat. Very often, stress causes weight gain; please don’t eat just because food is a stress buster. As long as you have abstemious eating habits and give your body the necessary amount of physical exercise it requires, you are sure to lose weight and keep it off.

Weight reducing remedies Too much rich food and too little exercise are usually the root causes of obesity. However, if you notice that your weight gain is abnormal then it is a good idea to get a doctor's opinion about your problem. Sudden weight gain, like sudden weight loss, is often indicative of problems and should be checked as soon as possible.
The first thing you need to do is to examine your regular intake of food. Are you eating because you are hungry or because you have nothing else to do? Draw up a strict routine for yourself and adhere to it. Set them time aside for some simple exercises. You can also learn some simple yoga. Cut down on all fried food and stop eating processed food. Avoid drinking any kind of carbonated beverages. Instead, drink plenty of water. When you wake up, mix one teaspoon of honey in half a cup of warm water. Drink this. You can also drink this just before going to bed. For breakfast eat ripe tomatoes.
Eat salads with a simple dressing. Butter, cheese, oil and sugar should be taken in moderation. Don't eat too little, since this will only mean that you will feel hungry soon after lunch or dinner. Eat slowly and never, never eat in front of the television.
