Headache causes
Why do I constantly get headaches when I ingest either caffeine or sugar. I have had my glucose checked, and the numbers are good. I also don't drink or eat any caffeine. Thank you.

Headache causes Headaches can occur due to many different reasons. One of the main reasons for headaches can be attributed to food. Diet plays a major role in causing headaches.
The type of food can have direct body-mind relation and effects. There are three main areas that need attention if the headaches are related to food:
- Dehydration: Ensure that you get enough water during the day. Consume at least 10-12 glasses of water per day.
- Low blood sugar: If headaches usually occur in the afternoon, after you skip lunch, it is almost certain that they are caused by the lack of carbohydrates and sugar. Alternatively, a lunch high in refined carbohydrates and sugar may cause a sudden increase in blood sugar, followed by a drop, leaving you without energy. The best balanced lunch should include slower-digesting proteins, fats and complex carbohydrates. Include a piece of fruit or dried fruits and nuts in your lunch and avoid foods like chips, white bread, or sugary juice beverages. Take several small meals at regular intervals.
- Foods that trigger headaches: There are some foods that are known to trigger headaches. Keep a track of such foods and avoid consuming those. Certain foods like cheese, chocolate, meats preserved with nitrates, food containing MSG, nuts, and yogurt, can trigger headaches in some people. In addition to the above foods, watch out for red wine, beer and caffeine. They are also known to trigger headaches.
Instead of self-diagnosis, it is a good practice to consult a doctor so that any serious causes may be ruled out.
