High blood pressure queries: I am on high blood pressure meds, and just went to the ER because my pressure was 198. They sent me home. How high must it be for me to be alarmed?

Home Cure for high blood pressure

If you have a blood pressure of 140/90 mm Hg or above, you are at a risk of heart diseases, strokes and other complications.

  1. Plan and chart out a completely salt-free diet regime. This should be done to reduce the blood pressure level. All kinds of salt, sodium and soda should be removed from your diet.
  2. You need to eat to eat a very high fiber diet. Oat bran is a very good source of fiber.
  3. Green vegetables and fresh fruits are fibrous food varieties.
  4. Drink plenty of fruit juices and minimum eight to ten glasses of distilled water.
  5. Exercise to maintain optimum weight.
  6. Go on fasting for two or three days a month to help detoxify your body.
  7. Avoid alcohol, tobacco and caffeine.
  8. Consume two tablespoons of flaxseed oil everyday. Pickles, hot spices and fats should be eliminated from the diet.
  9. Do not eat high protein food or self medicate yourself for common cold, flu or sleeplessness.
  10. Foods such as aged cheese, meats, chocolate, sour cream, yogurt or any kind of processed food should be avoided.
  11. Keep monitoring your blood pressure every three to four months. If you find anything amiss in your medical condition, immediately consult your physician. Hypertension always does not show symptoms.
