Migraine natural cures

Migraine headaches generally tend to be intense and throbbing, accompanied by vomiting sensation and intolerance for light and sound and can last for anything between a few hours up to a few days. Lying down in a dark, quiet room for an hour helps alleviate the pain, as does a gentle massage across the shoulders and back of the neck. Other massaging techniques include: gently pressing the base of the skull and releasing, or gentle rubbing the thumbs in a circular motion on each temple.

Aromatherapy is recommended often for migraines and peppermint, sandalwood, lavender and eucalyptus oils seem to be the most effective. You could try soaking a soft towel in cold water with a few drops of the above mentioned essential oils and applying this cold compress on your forehead and neck for immediate relief. The cool towel combined with the aroma will help shrink the blood vessels stressing the nerve endings and also relax you. At the same time, sometimes a gentle heat pad applied to the neck helps relaxes stiff muscles and ease the pain. Very often migraines start because of hunger that has been ignored and suppressed, so the first thing to do when you feel a migraine coming is to grab a snack and increase the blood sugar levels. If the migraine persists and becomes a chronic problem, then it is advisable to consult a doctor for medications.
