Home remedies for swimmers ears
  • Yes, you can put a few drops of white vinegar in the infected ear and let it be there for around 5 minutes. Then slowly turn your ear down to drain out the solution. Repeat this for 2 times a day and continue for 3 days.

The acetic acid present in white vinegar will kill and prevent any bacterial growth.
  • Mix 3 drops each of apple cider vinegar and water and put 3 drops in each ear after coming out of the shower or taking a swim. This will cure the infection.

  • You can also put a few drops of warm baby oil in your ear and fix a cotton ball on it to avert the oil coming out of your ears. Do this twice a day.
  • To dry the moisture from your ears, you can try to blow dry it with the help of a hair dryer.
  • Mix white vinegar, water and peroxide in equal quantities and put a few of the solution in the infected ear and keep it there for a minute or so. Then drain it out and place a cotton ball in your ear. Do this process before going to bed at night.
  • To prevent future infection put some oil in your ears before getting into water. Drain and dry your ears carefully after showering or swimming.

Swimmers ear remedies

Swimmer's ear is also called otitis externa. This condition usually affects the outer ear and the ear canal. The infection usually affects people who swim, and is therefore referred to as swimmer's ear. However, the water from your shower can cause this infection too, because a moist ear attracts bacteria.  When you suffer from this infection you will experience pain in you ear. The ear may also look red and may hurt when touched. You may also notice some fluid — either coming out of your ear or present as a crust at the rim of the ear. It is always better to seek the opinion of a doctor in these cases.

What you can do to ease any discomfort is to apply a warm compress — heat a pan or a griddle, then heat a folded towel on the heated pan, and use this to provide warmth to the affected ear.

In a mild case of swimmer's ear, you can make some ear drops at home. Take one small cup each of rubbing alcohol and white vinegar. Mix these in a clean bottle. You can use this several times a day to control the infection. If you have been suffering from swimmer's ear for a week, without any relief, then you should certainly visit the doctor.
