Conjugated linoleic acid or CLA is Trans fat which is a combination of may isomers of linoleic acid. These isomers of linoleic acid are primarily found in red meat, daily products, meat and lamb.
CLA is known promote weight loss in Human beings. The way it does it is as follows:

It makes sure that glucose gets into the muscle cells thus preventing it from getting converted into fat and also helps fat in entering the cell membranes or muscle and its connective tissue. This is the place where fat is burned into fuel thus reducing the fat content in the body.

Few of the Benefits of CLA are as follows:

  • CLA might increase the metabolic rate thus burning more fat
  • CLA helps in reducing fat particularly abdominal fat
  • CLA may enhance muscle growth
  • It also helps in maintaining cholesterol levels in the body
  • It helps in maintain the normal insulin levels in the body
  • It makes it easier for us to control weight
  • It enhances the immune system of the body.

Now that we know that it helps in reducing fat, a lot of people will definitely get interested in this but there exists another side to it. Studies have shown that maximum in a year CLA reduces only 4 pounds of fat. This is hardly promising, as it is known that a pound per week can easily ne shed if only one controls his or her diet and eat fresh fruits and veggies instead of fatty foods.
