Burning sensation is usually caused by acid reflux, in which the acidic digestive juices in the stomach travel up to the esophagus which is not blessed with a protective layer against these contents. Keep the following points in mind to minimize the burning sensation -
- Eat small frequent meals instead of 2-3 large ones and avoid stuffing the stomach with loads of food, even though its one of her favorite food.
- Relax while eating and chew each bite thoroughly before gulping it down.
This gives time to our brain to send satiety signals. - Never lie down or bend too much immediately after a meal. Have a gap of at least 2-3 hrs between meals and before sleeping.
- Avoid eating too spicy foods, oily or fried foods, red pepper, meat, pickles, cakes and pastries with heavy dressings, sour foods, strong tea, coffee and carbonated beverages. Any emotional stress may also worsen the acidity.
