- Eat smaller, frequent meals; this helps prevent acid reflux. Eat 5-6 small meals instead of 2-3 big meals.
This ensures that the acid is contained in the stomach and very little gets a chance to come up in to your food pipe.
- Minimize consumption of foods which are fatty or fried, avoid alcohol, restrict chocolate, peppermint, garlic, onion, tomato-based foods, spicy foods, citrus foods, caffeine or nicotine which are notorious in triggering a reflux.
- Do not wear tight-fitting, body-clinging garments. Don't wear your waist belt too tight.
- Don't lie down immediately after a meal — Wait at least for a couple of hours.
- Quit smoking completely, NOW! – It may have been the culprit in increasing your stomach acidd
- Lose weightt Eat a healthy, balanced diett
- Do not sleep flat on the bedd Try and elevate your head to reverse the direction of the up-coming acidd
- Instead of sleeping on your back, sleep on your left-hand sidee
