Question on foods for constipation

What foods should be AVOIDED regarding constipation?

Passing stools less than 3 times a week or strain in passing stools atleast a quarter of the time is termed as constipation.

 

Foods to be avoided for constipation-

1. Refined cereals/processed food lack fibre.

2. Certain drug intake might also cause constipation.

3. Greasy or fried foods,cheese etc should be avoided.

 

Foods beneficial for constipation-

1. Green leafy vegetables

2. Other vegetables

3. Drinking plenty of water(Around 8 glasses/day) and

4. Whole cereals and pulses

5. Brown bread instead of white bread.

 

Other Tips-

1. Proper and timely eating habit

2. Regular Exercise.

3. Irregular / hurried meals should be avoided.
