Blowing with your nostrils and mouth shut is also not a good idea, as it can damage your ear or spread the infection if you blow too suddenly or too hard. A better technique is to take a deep breath and then blow out through tightly pursed lips. This places more even, steady, even pressure and may ease the blockage. You can also try yawning a couple of times. However, these are temporary measures that address only the symptom but not the infection. If the blocked sensation returns, you can do this several times a day, but you should also put a few drops of vinegar in your ear.
