Cures for Flatulence

Flatulence, the gas that builds up inside the digestive tract, comes from two sources. One is when we accidentally ingest air, while eating or even while talking. The other is certain foods that produce gas as they pass through the digestive system.

Certain foods have long standing reputations as causes of flatulence — these include beans, cabbage, and cauliflower. Other foods such as onions, garlic, oats, wheat, and even some dairy products can also cause flatulence or contribute to the unpleasant smell. You should limit your intake of these foods, at least after using a process of elimination to find out which ones affect you most.

Food that has not been digested properly can also end up releasing gases in the large intestine. Before you eliminate the previously mentioned foods from your diet, it might be a good idea to ensure that your digestive system is functioning properly. Ensure that you drink enough water daily and that your diet contains enough fiber, as these help digestion. Some amount of daily exercise, even if it is a half hour walk, will also help your digestive system. You should also eat yogurt regularly, and try adding asafetida to certain dishes, as they are supposed to prevent or limit flatulence.
