Toothache home remedies

A toothache can be caused by a number of things – you could be suffering from tooth decay caused by bad oral hygiene, a broken bicuspid or you could just merely have some food stuck between your teeth. If you experience any pain in your teeth, ensure that you see a dentist at once for a correct diagnosis and a course of medication. However, you can try a number of home remedies in the meanwhile.

If the pain is caused by food that is stuck in your teeth, you can try and remove it by rinsing your mouth vigorously with some warm water. You can also try and remove the food by flossing gently. If you are not, you are very likely to injure your gums and cause some more damage.

If your tooth is paining tremendously, drink some alcohol and hold it over the affected tooth for some moments. By doing this, your gums will become numb to the pain. A tried and tested remedy for a sore throat, gargling with salt water will also help your toothache. However, the most effective remedy for a toothache is clove oil. You can either apply this oil directly on the affected tooth or you can apply it on a piece of cotton and place it next to the aching tooth. You can also apply ice on the affected area about three of four times a day.
