how can i gain weight in a few months
(16 Jan 2008)

Being underweight is a problem that is faced by a large number of people. Fast paced lifestyles, increased levels of stress and anxiety, leave very little or no time to pay attention to ones diet.  Every individual needs to maintain a certain level of weight according to their age and height.

In order to determine what this ideal weight is, a statistical tool known as the BMI calculator is used. This tool measures what a person’s weight should be in relation to their height. Individual’s that have a BMI below 20 are said to be underweight, while those that have a BMI above 25 are said to be overweight. Anything that falls between the range of 20 to 25 is termed as being healthy. Being underweight brings along a lot of health problems. This is simply because underweight people generally tend to have a weak or suppressed immune system. This in turn makes them vulnerable to various kinds of diseases and illnesses.

Here are a few home remedies that can help you gain weight. Potatoes are excellent for gaining calories. Boil 2-3 medium sized potatoes and then mash them. Add a pinch of salt and olive oil to them. This should be had twice a day; once for breakfast and the next for lunch. This remedy if performed regularly for 2-3 months will definitely yield positive results. Rice water is another effective remedy for putting on weight. Boil one cup of rice in 2 cups of water. Once the rice is cooked, strain the water into a glass and let it cool. This solution should be had 2-3 times a day, preferably half an hour before your meals.

Dry fruits such as almonds, raisins and figs are also beneficial when it comes to putting on weight. To 2 cups of milk, add about 30 grams of raisins. Let the two simmer for a few minutes on a low flame. Once the milk cools, strain it into a glass. Then eat the raisins, after which drink the glass of milk. An alternative to this remedy would be to eat thirty grams of raisins on a daily basis.  Take 4-5 figs and soak them in a glass of water and leave it overnight. Consume the figs, first thing the next morning, on an empty stomach. This will also help in gaining weight. Whichever remedy or remedies you choose to implement, remember that you will need to be consistent and patient in order to see results.
