Puffy eyes home remedies Lack of sleep, a poor dietary regimen and stress causes puffy eyes. Chronic sinusitis or allergies are common causative factors for puffy eyes. Refrigerated spoons, placed on the eyes are effective remedies. They are replaced by tea bags dipped in hot water. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water is useful. Stiff peaks of two egg whites (by whisking), is applied under the eyes. Cut slices of cucumber are placed over the eyes for 10 to 15 minutes. Splashing cold water on the face, in the absence of any other remedy is equally effective. Starch in potato has an anti inflammatory property. A poultice made with slightly roasted and grated potato proves beneficial against puffy eyes. A massage with a cube of ice is helpful. Fluid accumulation is avoided, by placing two pillows under the head. Avoid rubbing and scratching eyes. Rest your eyes once in an hour for 5 minutes, especially when working on your computer. Hypoallergenic soaps are preferred. Take care with your eye make-up.
