Acne is a common skin condition or problem which is observed in many people especially teenagers and adolescents in the form of white heads, blackheads, pimples which are pus filled lesions and even as small pink bumps that are known as papules. Acne is known to occur on the back, chest, face, forehead, shoulders, buttocks and even the legs in some cases. One of the natural treatments for acne includes applying some essential tea tree oil which has been diluted, directly on the acne lesions.


Tea tree oil will help dry up the acne and also act as a disinfectant. This is because tea tree oil is known to contain a constituent which makes tea tree oil a very good anti-bacterial agent. On account of this anti bacterial property of tea tree oil applying some tea tree oil directly on the lesions is known to kill the bacteria that is dwelling in the skin. One of the acne natural home remedies also is to use zinc which works as an effective antibiotic medication for acne. However one may have to be careful while using zinc for acne as it is known to have side effects such as giving a metallic taste in the mouth and also causing a digestive upset. In some cases, taking a high dose of zinc may also result in heart problems, weakened immune system, anemia and so on. Aloe vera is another excellent natural cure acne treatment that can be done at home. Aloe vera works effectively against acne because of its anti-bacterial and high soothing anti-inflammatory properties. Aloe vera can also be consumed internally as it is known to detox the digestive tract and also clean it up thereby resulting in healthier skin. One of the best natural treatments for acne is to include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in one’s diet. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water every day as water helps in keeping the skin hydrated and supple and the diet will also result in clearer and better complexion. Vitamin E is also a natural remedy that is known to be effective against acne. This is because it is a natural antioxidant which is highly beneficial to the skin and can be consumed in the form of easily available soft gelatin capsules. One of the natural treatments for acne also includes applying the paste of freshly pureed tomatoes, rose water and honey on ones face just before bathing and then washing it off after allowing it to remain for twenty minutes at least.

Home Remedies for Acne

Read on the following home made recipes for treating acne:
  • Prepare a paste of oatmeal and apply on face for about 15 minutes, then wash.
  • Blanch nettle and rosemary leaves to your bath water to reduce the acne.
  • Prepare a paste by mixing equal amount of lemon juice and rose water and apply the paste on the acne using a cotton ball. Wash the paste after about half an hour.
  • Garlic cloves also prove to be beneficial in treating acne.
  • Prepare a paste of avocado and water. Apply this over the acne.
  • Drink rosemary tea and about 3 glasses of warm water with lemon and honey, daily.
  • Clean your skin either with lemon juice or apple cider vinegar using a cotton ball.
  • Mix 2-3 tea bags to some basil and cook in boiling water for 10-20 minutes. Then apply on the acne with a cotton ball.
  • Saturate lettuce leaves in water and use that water to rinse face and acne.
  • Lavender compresses also helps in relieving inflammation.
  • Eat plenty of carrots or cucumbers.
  • Prepare a paste using basil leaves, tea bags and water. Apply the paste on the affected skin area and feel the change.
  • Apply cucumbers juice on the acne using cotton wool pads.
