Home remedies on boils

Skin infection in a particular area is termed as an abscess or boils. It is sometimes deep. It is hard and firm, filled with pus.

The head of the boil comprises of the pus that is drained easily. Ointments comprising of magnesium and zinc are helpful. Turmeric paste is an equally effective remedy. Tomato paste is effective, as the acidic juice, keeps infection at bay. Popping out boil by hand is not recommended. Placing some toothpaste on the affected area overnight helps in bringing the contents at the top, which is later pricked. Pricking is done with a sterilized needle. Bacon fat is applied as a poultice and covered with a gauze. Boils are caused by abrasion or rupturing of the skin, clogged sweat glands, entry of foreign matter into the skin and ingrown hair can give rise to a boil. Release of pus spreads infection, as boils are contagious. An anti bacterial soap is helpful in further spreading infection. Plugged oil glands can be prevented by using body scrubs or loofahs.
