Toothache home remedy

A toothache is usually only a symptom of something more serious — infection, tooth decay, an impacted tooth, gum problems, or just a bit of food that has gotten stuck between teeth. Whatever the problem may be, while there are several effective home remedies to temporarily ease the toothache, you will finally need to visit a dentist and address the real problem.

Till then, you have several options.

If the problem is simply a food particle that has gotten lodged between two teeth, you may just need to rinse your mouth vigorously to dislodge the food. Flossing gently might also achieve the same effect. If this does not help, you can rinse your mouth with salt water or with alcohol.

You can also chew on a clove or apply clove oil to the aching tooth. Vanilla extract can also be applied or a mixture of lime juice and asafetida. Try chewing on a piece of ice, a piece of ginger or garlic or a slice of onion, using the tooth or teeth that are aching. You can also powder a stick of burnt turmeric and use this as toothpowder. Remember though, that if any of these treatments aggravates the pain, stop it immediately and try another one.
