Weight loss advice

Most people think that to be healthy or to lose weight, you must cut out all fat from your diet. However, this is a mistake. In order for your brain and nervous tissue function properly and your healthy skin to look healthy, some fat in your diet is absolutely essential.

The fats that you want to cut out from your diet and avoid completely are the saturated fats. These fats are obtained from meat, diary and egg products and are typically found in baked foods like cakes and biscuits. Most junk food and all fast foods have a very high amount of saturated fat. Red meat has quite a lot of saturated fat compared to fish and chicken. However, saturated fats are also present in some vegetarian sources such as oils that are obtained from coconut trees.

You must ensure that you consume the unsaturated fat, or what are known as the good fats. These fats are abundant products like olive oil and sunflower oil. They are also present in in nuts, and in fish oil which are very beneficial for your health. The oils contained in fish are the best source of omega 3 oils and are also very healthy. Trans fats are, in reality, unsaturated fats but because they can raise your cholesterol levels, you must avoid these fats as well.
