Eye care remedy

My contacts ended up getting very dry and when I took them out, I could feel my cornea ripping. Aside from burning, I'm sensitive to light. Is there any home remedy I can do for this?

Eye care remedy

Dry eyes are a common and often chronic problem and can cause great discomfort. The condition has several causes including a lack of tears and side effect of medications, such as antihistamines and birth control pills. Dry eyes also occur as a part of the aging process, especially during menopause or if dry or windy climate.

Because you don't blink as much as normal when you are reading or using the computer for prolonged periods of time, many people also find their eyes become irritated and dry. Stopping your activities periodically to rest and blink allows the eyes to be comfortable.

People who wear contact lenses usually suffer from dryness because the lens absorbs the tear film in the eye.

This causes a protein formation on the lens surface. If you have a severe case of dry eyes, you might find using a specially customized contact lens useful. This custom lens rests on the white of the eye, creating a fluid-filled layer over the cornea.  You can use a variety of home remedies for dry eyes. Change your diet to contain foods rich in vitamin A and take nutritional supplements which will help you improve the production of tears in your eyes. You can also as soak a cloth in hot water and use it as a hot compress over your eyes for 10 minutes two times a day. Cotton balls soaked in rose water and cucumber slices can also provide relief for dry eyes.
