Gentle skin care, identifying and avoiding irritable or allergy-inducing substances generally cure rashes. Avoid using harsh soaps, opting instead for gentle cleansers and wash the affected area with warm (not hot) water. Avoid scrubbing the skin and pat dry after a bath, instead of rubbing vigorously.


It is also a good idea to expose the area to air and thus let it breathe. It is however important to identify whether your rash is caused due to a bacterial or fungal infection, so that you can treat it correctly.

However certain rashes require detailed diagnosis and it is a good idea to consult a dermatologist.


Contact Dermatitis is generally caused due to contact with an allergy-inducing substance, most commonly poison ivy and jewellery containing nickel. It can be treated by avoiding the allergen. This can get worse in winter with inflammation of the skin and extreme itchiness.
