Sciatica pain travels from lower back to the buttocks and hips and goes down to the large sciatic nerve which is present at the back of the leg (so it can cause pain in the heel and back of thigh region too). The pain is caused as the protruded or herniated lumbar disc puts pressure on the radicular nerve in the lower back which forms the part of sciatic nerve. It is very important to rest and give time to the inflammation to subside. Try the following home remedies to reduce the sciatic pain –
- A hot water bag placed on the regions which are in pain will help to relieve the pain and place you in better condition.
- Massage warm oil on the regions with pain in downwards direction that is starting from the lower back to the thighs and legs.
- Stretching exercises prescribed by along with the medications by your specialist would also help to relieve the pain to a greater extent.
