Try the following simple remedies and dietary modifications to reduce your cholesterol levels.
  1. Animal products are the main source of cholesterol in our diet; avoid the consumption of egg yolk, organ meats (liver, brain and kidneys), meat, shell fish and poultry with skin.
  2. Decrease your visible fat content as even it has negligible amount of cholesterol a high level in the diet will ultimately get converted in cholesterol in our body. Avoid consumption of oily/fried foods, sweet foods, high fat cheese, chocolates, ice creams, full cream and mayonnaise in diet.
  3. Fenugreek is an excellent source of soluble fiber which helps to reduce cholesterol levels significantly. Eat 15 g soaked fenugreek seeds (soaked for at least 8 hours) two times a day, one 30 minutes before breakfast and the other 30 minutes before dinner.
  4. Include lots of fiber in your diet in the form of fresh fruits, dark green leafy vegetables, oat meal, whole grain cereals and pulses and minimize the consumption of refined and processed foods as far as possible.
  5. Crush a fresh clove of garlic early morning and have it on an empty stomach daily or include garlic liberally in your daily meals.
  6. Besides food, exercise on regular basis is a very effective way to decrease your cholesterol levels naturally.
