Leg cramps occur when the muscle in the leg undergoes a uncontrolled, sudden muscle contraction. There are many factors that contribute to muscle spasm in the leg like dehydration, muscle fatigue, being overweight, heavy exercising, electrolyte imbalance, or certain medications. Try the following remedies to ease your condition.
- The first thing to prevent leg cramps is avoiding dehydration. Drink plenty of water and stay well hydrated.
- Do simple stretching exercises involving the leg muscles. This will give relief, also if you indulge in any kind of exercise make sure to stat with warm up and end it with cool down.
- Cold compress would work best and may provide instant relief. A hot water shower will also help to relax and warm the muscle. Try both and see which works best for you.
- Mix 200g mustard oil and 10g camphor and keep in sun light till the camphor gets dissolved. Use this oil to gently massage on the affected region in natural direction of the muscles.
- To reduce the pressure on your legs maintain an ideal body weight.
