Severe cough treatment

what can I do about a cough that happens @ night with only very small amount of clear flem? I have severe allergies take claritin, nasal spray, occasionall cough syrup, sometimes mucousnix, and mostly cough drops, and use primatine mist.

Cough may not be a disease but it can occur when certain minute particles enter the respiratory tract thus obstructing the passage of air from lungs to nose or vice versa. People suffering from cough may find it difficult in breathing, swallowing and speaking, uneasiness and fever, headache and body pain.

Certain home treatments that can be adopted to reduce cough are:-

Add 2 teaspoon of turmeric powder to a glass of warm milk.

This will clear the chest.
Soak almond seeds in warm water and keep it overnight. Peel off the outer skin and make almond paste.

Add honey and half tablespoon butter. Give this mixture 2-3 times a day. This can be helpful against cough.
Prepare a paste of betel leaves with water and apply it on the chest externally. This is effective against coughs.
Tea prepared from aniseed is useful. This will help in loosening the congestion of the chest and can make breathing easy.
Euphorbia is a preferable medicine for coughs.
Prepare a syrup of 2 -3 cloves of garlic and have this syrup 2 -3 times a day.
Avoid consuming cold foods as it can aggravate the situation. Drink warm water. Avoid speaking hoarsely and loudly.

If cough still persists with difficulty in breathing, it is better to consult a doctor.
