Bladder infection affects the urinary bladder and can spread to the kidney or prostrate. It occurs majorly in women between 20 and 50 years of age. Genetics, pregnant women, elderly women, women having kidney stones or using contraceptives or diaphragms can lead to bladder infection.
Men suffering from HIV or who are engaged in anal sex can suffer from bladder infection.
This infection is caused due to bacteria called E.Coli that grows in the vagina and enters into the urethra.
This can irritate the wall of urinary tract and can lead to burning sensation.
Certain home remedies that can be useful for bladder infection are:-
- General hygiene is essential. Certain measures like wearing cotton under wears which will keep the skin dry, avoid application of lotions or oil in the private areas, maintain cleanliness like regular bath and thorough washing of the private parts.
- A hot bath can relieve the pain that is associated with infection.
- Avoid diaphragm as it can harbor microorganisms in the vagina as well it can cause delay in bladder emptying. Urinate before and after intercourse as it can flush out the bacteria that may be present in the vagina.
- Take large doses of Vitamin C with lots of water which will kill the bad bacteria.
- Have a can of Asparagus a day which will relieve the pain.
- Drink a glass of beer as the years present in the beer can fight against the bacteria. However this needs to be taken in moderation.
