Age Spots Natural Treatment

Age spots, also known as liver spots, are harmless and are much like freckles in that they are caused by the sun. The best way to prevent them is to wear sun screen. Without sun screen, you can stay outside in the sun for 30 minutes without affecting your skin.

If you wear SPF 15 sunscreen, you can stay outside for up to 7 hours. To fade the spots you currently have, there are a couple of ways to go.

  • Lemon juice.

Lemon juice is very acidic, enough so to where it can take off the first layer of skin. Take a cotton ball dipped in pure lemon juice and rub it into the skin that has the liver spots. Let it sit for 45 minutes and then rinse off. This will take some time, but you should see results in 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Red Onion. Red Onion is much like lemon in that it contains enough acid to affect the skin. Take slices of red onion and rub them on the areas that have the liver spots. Make sure the juice from the onion gets on your skin. Let it soak for 1 hour and then rinse off. Again, you should start to see results in 4 to 6 weeks.

While doing either of these treatments, it is important to moisturize the skin with cocoa butter or Emu oil as this help the new skin grow in nourished and not affected by the liver spots.
