Home remedies for acid refluxes
  • Acid reflux is also known as esophageal reflux which is caused when the esophageal sphincter muscle does not close properly and a burning sensation is created under the rib cage. It also causes irritation and is caused due to stress, obesity and improper diet.
  • Avoid drinking coffee, alcohol, smoking, citrus fruits, junk foods, tomatoes, chocolates and spices as these foods can irritate the esophageal lining.

  • Try to refrigerate the onions if you want to have them raw or cook them with vegetables. For sandwiches, you can toast or steam them. All these process will decrease its potency which might be the reason for the acid reflux.

  • Eat 5 or 6 smaller meals during the day instead of having larger ones.
  • Do not overeat or drink lots of water along with your meals.
  • Sip buttermilk with your meals to aid digestion. You can drink it anytime during the day.
  • Drinking coconut water will cool your stomach. You can also eat yogurt right after your mid day meals.
  • Take a relaxed stroll only half an hour after your meals and if possible, go for a walk half an hour before your bed time.
  • Do not strain yourself physically after eating and avoid heavy work, running or jogging as they may increase your condition. Do light yoga exercises and deep breathing.
