Dry and itchy scalp is typical of a dandruff affected scalp. Dead cells of the scalp are eliminated as dandruff. Regular application of coconut oil helps in relieving dandruff.


Complete massage with lemon also helps. Use of hair colors, dyes, medicines, hair dryer, illness, dry climate and any underlying illness results in a dry and flaky scalp. Honey, milk and green tea helps in moisturizing the hair.


A dilute solution of baking soda is applied and rinsed after a few minutes. Two parts of distilled water is mixed with one part of witch hazel. This is left for a few minutes. Topical application of aloe vera gel proves beneficial, after soaking the scalp for 10 to 15 minutes. Almond oil is applied on the hair. Wear a war towel on your head. Fenugreek seeds soaked overnight is made into a paste and left on the scalp for 20 minutes. Give a rinse of cider vinegar, which is left for 40 minutes. Wash with cold water. A decoction of thyme helps. Two teaspoons of vinegar is mixed with a teaspoon of lime juice and massaged on the scalp. Equal amounts of vinegar and water also proves useful. Shampoos containing salicylic acid or selenium sulphide prove useful.
