Gastritis Home Remedies

Swelling or inflammation of the intestinal lining is referred to as gastritis. Also referred to as dyspepsia, gastritis is characterized by stomach pain, nausea, uneasiness, halitosis, diarrhoea, headache and vomiting. Coconut water is a store house of vitamins and minerals and is recommended for gastritis.


Consumption of potato juice, prior to meals is an effective remedy. This is given 2 to 3 times a day. A tablespoon of marigold herb also helps. Improper eating habits or over eating also causes gastritis. Chewing a piece of ginger, prior to meals helps in enhancing juice secretion. Adequate amount of fluids are recommended, especially lemon juice with salt. Gas is removed by drinking warm water. Rock salt with a teaspoon of carom seeds is an effective remedy. A brisk walk always helps. Acidic and spicy foods are avoided. Abstinence from alcohol and smoking is recommended. Fatty foods increase the stomach inflammation and are better avoided. Gooseberry is a good source of ascorbic acid and improves digestion. Licorice is soothing to the stomach. Citric juices and carbonated beverages are not advised.
