Earwax Removal Remedy

Ear wax is a waxy substance that develops in the ear canal. Ear buds are the most common and easily accessible method. Proper care is essential, as the probability of pushing the wax, deep inside is seen to occur.

It is also referred to as cerumen. Wax softening over-the-counter drops is available. Olive oil is a commonly preferred remedy. Lubrication, cleansing and protection are the vital functions of the ear wax. Temporary hearing loss is associated with heavy waxing. Careless usage of ear buds or swabs result in perforation of ear drums. Ear infection is especially common in the case of abrasion with a swab, after swimming. Syringing is a commonly used technique in earwax removal, wherein water is injected at high pressure. Normal saline, vinegar and water solution, sodium bicarbonate solution or plain warm water is used. An ear pick or curette is another alternative. This helps in scooping out the earwax and is removed in the form of flakes. Ear candling is another upcoming technique, wherein a hollow candle is placed inside the ear canal. It is lit and the hot air that is rising helps in bringing out the wax and other dirt.
