how do you cure heel pain
(26 Dec 2007)

If you experience pain while walking at the bottom of the foot then you are suffering from a condition called plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis leads to tearing of ligament at the bottom of our foot. The tearing leads to inflammation and hence leads to pain or aches.

The pain may not be continuous and occurs in intervals during certain period of time or after certain physical activity. People suffering from plantar fasciitis will find       difficulty in walking as well as need support of the wall while walking.

Various home remedies for reducing plantar fasciitis are:-
  • Avoid too much of activity. Avoid walking or running briskly giving too much of pressure to the feet. Avoid carrying heavy weights or carrying too many items in one go. Give rest to your foot. Avoid taking the stairs or going up the hill as it can lead to pressure on the bottom of the foot.
  • A regular massage with hot and cold water can improve the blood circulation by opening and closing the blood vessels. An alternate soaks of your feet with hot and cold water for five minutes daily in the night can be useful.
  • Buy proper size and supportive shoes. Too stiff or too much bending of shoes can be painful to the heel.
  • Take some stretching exercise of feet. Wrap the ball of the foot with the towel .Pull the foot towards you without bending the leg for 30 – 60 seconds. You can feel the stretch on your foot. This exercise is effective for your feet.
  • Application of ointment containing capsaicin, an active ingredient in hot pepper can bring heat to your feet thus decreasing the pain in your feet.
