Our urinary tract helps in removing all the liquid wastes from the body. The bacteria that are present in the bowel tend to spread from the rectum or vagina and can enter the urinary tract through the urethra. It can infect the bladder and various parts of the urinary tract.


Bacteria present on the digestive tract may remain on the urethra thus leading to infection. During sexual intercourse, bacteria present on the vagina may enter the urethra with the help of the penis. Multiple partners and holding the urge to urinate can be other reasons for this infection. This infection can result in pain while urinating with burning sensation, increased urge to urinate, fever, vomiting and nausea.

Various remedies that can be helpful for curing urinary tract infection are:-

• Drink lots of water as it will help in flushing out the toxins present in the body.
• Do not hold your urine as it can weaken the bladder and cause easy entry of the microorganisms.
• Avoid wearing tight fitting clothes or undergarments as it can lead to infection. Clean your genitals before and after sexual intercourse as it will remove any bacteria present near the urethra. Avoid using lotions or sprays around the private area as it can irritate the skin.
• Mix equal parts of sandalwood, bergamot, tree tea, frankincense and juniper oil. Massage this oil around the bladder. Can be applied for 2-3 days until the symptom subsides.
• Avoid processed foods, carbonated beverages, caffeine, and smoking as it can irritate the system.
• Have a well balanced diet which contain fruits and vegetables in proper amounts as it contains vitamins and minerals that are essential for a healthy body.
• Place heating pad near the lower abdominal area to bring relief from pain caused due to the infection.
