The glands around your throat commonly swell as a result of cold, sore throat, ear infection, an injury or a bite. To reduce the swelling of these glands it is important to treat the cause of the swelling.

Try the following remedies to decrease the swelling around your throat –

  • If the glands are swollen due to a sore throat then warm water gargles with salt added would work best. Do this 3-4 times in a day especially when you wake up in the morning and before going to bed at night.
  • Warm compressed around the throat and the ears would also help to decrease the swelling and ease ear infection. Fill a flat small bottle with warm water and use for warm compress.
  • Turmeric has antiseptic properties which help to relieve cold and sore throat. Add ¼ th   tsp of turmeric powder and a pinch of salt in a cup of boiling milk and drink this daily twice.

If the swelling increases or is due to some injury then consult a specialist for exact diagnosis as treatment would follow accordingly.
