1. Toenail fungus is an infection which is appropriately known as onchomycosis. It is caused by group of fungus called as dermatophytes. These include epidermophyton, trichophyton, microsporum.

2. Toenail fungus can be contagious and hereditary also.

3. Good hygienic washes with turmeric water solution, wiping and proper drying of the foot and all the body parts is very essential to prevent this.
