Kidney plays a vital role in the body. Erythropoietin synthesized by the kidney stimulates the production of red blood cells. Kidneys indirectly aid calcium absorption.

The kidneys do removal of nitrogenous wastes. Kidney failure results in waste accumulation in the body. Acute kidney failure can be reversed within a few weeks.

In addition to an illness, it results in stroke, infection and heart attack. It is a life-threatening phenomenon. Drowsiness, difficulty in breath, reduced output of urine; edema, seizures, fatigue, chest pain and confusion are the common symptoms. Kidney failure is caused by various reasons. On the basis of the area of occurrence, it is classified as pre renal and post renal. When the blood flow to the kidneys is interfered, it is termed pre renal. Renal involves damage or the urine leaving the kidneys causes’ injury to the kidneys and post renal. The initial damage has to be eliminated. A high carbohydrate and low protein diet is prescribed. Potassium in the diet is also reduced. A mechanical waste filtering option is the method of treatment. This is referred to as dialysis. Drug and alcohol abuse is avoided. Guidance of your physician has to be strictly adhered to.
