Strep throat is often associated with fever of mild grade. This fever subsides when the infection in the throat subsides. So along with fever it becomes important to eliminate the cause for fever that is the strep throat. Some home remedies for fever -
- Make an herbal tea for your son by mixing equal parts of chamomile flowers, thyme and linden flowers in a cup of water. Boil this mixture and strain it.
- If the fever rises above 102 or 103 degree census then use cold wet compresses on the forehead. This will help to remove the extra heat from the body.
- Feed him. The body requires extra fuel as the temperature rises. As he also has strep throat feed him soft palatable, hot food to fight the infection and make the immune system strong.
- With fever there is also a loss of water from the body (in the form of sweating which is required), so to compensate this water loss it is very important to keep him well hydrated. Besides water include fruit juices (not cold/chilled), vegetable soups, broths, coconut water, beet juice or carrot juice.
If the fever is mild then do not worry it would fade away with the throat infection, however if it is high and lingers for more than 2 days then consult a specialist for an appropriate treatment.
