Try the following simple home remedies for mouth dryness – - Even if you don’t feel thirsty drink water. Water will help keep your mouth hydrated and moist. Frequency is important rather than quantity.
- Suck small fruit pieces like apples, pears, peaches, cherries, as it will enhance saliva flow in the mouth. Saliva production can also be encouraged by sugar free hard candies, eating soft foods and foods moistened with sauces or gravies instead of hard and brittle foods.
- One of the best ways to keep saliva flowing in the mouth is to suck on hard candies or to chew gum, but the gum and candy should be sugar free.
- Add a slice of lemon juice in a cup of water and drink it or rinse your mouth with a bit of lemon juice and glycerin to stimulate the flow of saliva.
- Avoid refined sugar; as enough saliva is not present in the mouth to flush the sugar and its accumulation on tooth can cause tooth decay.
