Normal range for blood pressure is – Systolic – less than 120 and Diastolic – less than 80 The figures which you mentioned does not indicate high blood pressure, instead they fall in the category of pre hypertension. However if you have any associated problems like diabetes or kidney problems then 130/90 would be considered high in that case. To avoid any complications related to this silent killer it is wise to keep your blood pressure under control.
Following lifestyle modifications and simple diet changes would help. Blood pressure health advice - - Lose weight if you are above your ideal body weight.
- Prefer a low sodium and high potassium diet.
Restrict your visible salt intake. Also foods high in sodium such as processed foods, pickles, ketchup, canned foods, salted nuts, wafers or chips should be avoided. - Be a wise consumer. Make a habit to read the food label for sodium and potassium content.
- Avoid tobacco and alcohol altogether. Be physically active, a simple brisk walk will also help to control your blood pressure.
