- Honey: One of the most highly recommended natural cough remedies is honey, because of the soothing effect it can have on the throat. It is best to add a few drops of honey to a cup of warm water or herbal tea and sip it at regular intervals during the day. In fact, honey can be taken in different forms, which is why it is also a suitable method of cough relief for children.
- Onion and Garlic: Both these ingredients are very effective cough relief remedies and can either be eaten individually, or can be combined in the form of a soup, to relieve the throat
- Spinach Juice: This is a very effective dry cough remedy; people are advised to take one glass of spinach juice and gargle with it, once a day.
- Almonds: These nuts are known to contain properties that can help relive a cough. Around 8 to 9 almonds should be soaked in some water overnight. The next morning, they need to be skinned and then converted into a thick paste, which needs to be consumed, either the way it is, or mixed with a little honey.
- Ginger: There are many people who suck on candied ginger, in order to relieve a cough. However, it is also possible to prepare some syrup, using ginger paste, honey, pepper, vinegar and water. This syrup should be consumed a couple of times a day, for maximum effectiveness.
