Mucous removal remedy The mucous membranes secrete mucus, which is a viscous colloid. It comprises of immunoglobulins and antiseptic enzymes, such as lysozyme. The respiratory tract is lined with phlegm, which is also a kind of mucus.
Problem in the eyelids is also a vital cause for tears in eyes. Garlic oil or cayenne extract is topically applied on the chest to remove congestion. Avoid smoking and consumption of fatty foods, dairy products and chocolates. Inhalation of mullein vapors is recommended. Excessive production of tears or improper drainage of the same also causes teary eyes, which is also referred to as epiphora. Vomiting, laughing and yawning are other factors contributing to excessive tears. Magnesium and pyridoxine supplementation proves beneficial in alleviating accumulated mucus. Anti histamines are helpful, in case of allergy. Artificial tears are also equally helpful. Mucous discharge is also due to allergic conjunctivitis. Redness, itchiness and puffiness of the eyes are common symptoms. Ointments and eye drops available commercially is effective in treating microbial infection. Cotton dabbed in warm water is placed occasionally over the eyes. Wipe the mucus discharge at regular intervals.
