Eye infection home remedies

Eye infection can be a result of microbial entry or due to dust or any other foreign invasion. Hordeolum or stye is a lump or boil seen on the eyelids or at the base of an eyelash. Inflammation or infection in the eye is referred to as orbital cellulitis.

Burning and irritation of the eye with inflammation of the eyelids is another eye infection known as blepharitis. Typical symptoms of eye infection are redness, watery discharge, inflammation, itching, discomfort and pain. Washing the eyes with cold water helps in reducing the itchiness and spreading of infection. An eye cup is useful in cases of eye infection. Boric acid powder (one teaspoon) is added to a pint of boiled and cooled water. This is filled in the eyecup. Rinse your eyes with this solution. Avoid touching the eyes with hands, as this aggravates infection. Eye cosmetics are avoided, during infection in the eye. Avoid eye cosmetics, which have expired. Usage of borrowed eye cosmetics is not recommended. Over-the-counter eye drops are also effective in treating eye infection
